ISO 22000

ISO 22000 is a standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization dealing with food safety. It is a general derivative of ISO 9000.

ISO 22000 specifies requirements for a food safety management system where a company among the living phenomenon should exhibits its ability to control food safety hazards so as to confirm that food is safe at the time of human consumption. It is applicable to all or any organizations, in spite of size, that are concerned in any facet of the organic phenomenon and need to implement systems that systematically give safe product. The means that of meeting any necessities of ISO 22000 may be accomplished through the utilization of internal and/or external resources.

ISO 22000 specifies requirements to enable an organization to:

  • Plan, implement, operate, maintain and update a food safety management system aimed at providing products that, according to their intended use, are safe for the consumers.
  • Demonstrate compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory food safety requirements.
  • Ensure that the organization conforms to its stated food safety policy.
  • Demonstrate such conformity to relevant interested parties.
  • Seek certification or registration of its food safety management system by an external organization, or make a self-assessment or self-declaration of conformity to ISO 22000.

Our Implementation Process

We have developed seven stages methodology for developing and implementing the Food Safety Management System simplifies the pathway to ISO certification within a timeframe that suits you. This methodology has been used with all our clients and is a proven winning and successful approach.

QIA will appoint a dedicated Project Manager and an ISO Consultant who will work with you and your team and guide you through the Implementation process step by step:

Stage 1 – Completion of the Gap Analysis

Analysis of the current situation-Food Safety and HACCP system. This is called Gap Analysis. The Gap Analysis involves a review of your current controls, processes and procedures against the requirements of the ISO 22000 standard.

Stage 2 – Documentation of your ISO Management System

Once the Gap Analysis has been completed, QIA will document your FSMS system. We do not believe in off the shelf solutions. We will provide you with a customized FSMS that will meet your specific and unique business needs and requirements for food safety.

Stage 3 -Training

QIA will conduct companywide training workshops on the ISO 22000 standard(s) and your Food Safety Management System. We promise to engage your food safety team and staff to ensure the system is properly integrated into your business and be genuinely used as a business tool, food safety tool delivering long-term sustainable results for your business.

Stage 4 – Implementation

QIA will provide a detailed implementation plan that will detail how the newly documented management system is put into practice throughout the company. Developing system management and establishing Food Safety policy. After that developing the prerequisite programs and required documentation. Implementation and execution of HACCP principles will be go on in this stage.

Food safety Management team and employees are required to follow the new or revised work processes, procedures and work instructions as formalized in your company’s management system.

Stage 5 – Internal Audits and Management Review Meeting

QIA will complete a complete cycle of internal audits of your Food Safety Management System along with the Food Safety Team leader and your internal auditor team. The audit process involves interviewing employees at all levels. The auditing team will assess the implementation of the procedures and controls along with evaluation of effectiveness and corrective actions. The audit will mirror the method and questioning techniques of an external certification auditor. This audit will prepare your Management review meetings inputs to setting up the Continual Improvement strategies.

Stage 6 – Certification Phase of your Food Safety Management System

An audit company of your choice will be contacted at this stage and will be informed in writing about the state of preparedness of the organization to go for the initial certification audit.

Stage 7 – Maintaining your ISO Certification and beyond

QIA offers a unique FSMS management system software “QISS” service that provides you with ongoing support to maintain and improve your Food Safety management system automatically.
